There are several types of boats used in Heluso & Milonda. They have different strengths and weaknesses as listed below. These are more specific than the general ideas from the Ship Rules page.
Blockade Runner - Small fast and delicate ships.
Cargo Ship - Cheap slow vessels that hold lots of cargo and doesn't require much crew.
Merchant Ship - These 2-3 masted ships require a crew of 12-25, and can have weapons, manoeuvreability or speed, usually not all three. They can hold a decent amount of cargo, but not much compared to a dedicated hauler.
Home Ship - The term for these long-term sea-going vessels came from the Ob-Lobs. Most other nations if they build ships this big call them War Ships. They have the best overall performance, can hold the most cargo, but require more sailors than a standard merchant vessel.
Small fishing boat - Small non-combat vessels. Can be used as pilot boats in treacherous waters.
