The Mitotanitututamis (the name is often shortened to "the Mitos" by people who speak Imperial) are a minor Ob-Lob family. Cut throat and competitive, they've fallen on some hard times recently and have been reduced to operating a single ship out in the not fantastically lucrative waters around the Truil Wastes. They once dominated the seas in this region which includes Titra. Kitolakita is the head of the Mitos family.
The Mikobutakiba is the Mitos' last major ship. It was dispatched to Titra to take care of the quarterly moonstone shipment. The Helusian Spirit raided the Mitos mishandling of this shipment, stealing 1/3 of the moonstone and burning down the warehouse holding the rest (see The Titran Job). The Mikobutakiba tried to chase down the Spirit but was foiled by the storm that was pounding the island. They were unable to find the ship in the following days. Their failure to deliver on this shipment has ruined them financially.
When the Spirit hit them again so soon (with secret funding from the Captains' Council), that was the end. Kitolakita wouldn't negotiate and all that was left was him and five of his crew (and none of his sons). He was executed and the remaining sailors helped bring the ship in to Freeport.
